A subject less talked about...

The subject that I have chosen today fills me with the risk of getting exposed. As every living human being is most afraid of getting exposed so am I. Everybody to some extent gets fidgety when their feelings touch the ground of exposure. To be specific I am talking only about the over sensitive feelings…not just any feelings. Let me remind myself that some people are brave enough for not guarding their feelings and prove to be a great warrior in the battlefield called Life. But I am no great warrior; I am but a plain and fearful being that is afraid of getting exposed. At a slightest indication of getting exposed I hide myself in a cocoon, rarely then I trouble myself of coming out…the people who have known me might think otherwise though…I am sure you must be thinking of what the subject might be.

Let me introduce the subject to you, it is…

But wait the fear of getting exposed is not letting me come up with the subject. The feeling that I am experiencing right now is of the same kind when I happened to propose someone. Before I touch base on the subject let me narrate this incident to you. Don’t worry I will not go into the details… so the incident goes like this, I happen to call this guy whom I thought to be just perfect for me (that’s the reason you propose I guess), and vomited out all my feelings to him and felt that have committed an act of bravery…I was all happy to be relieved of the burden, only to find out that it was one sided! Heartbreak it was. The minute I came to know that it was all one sided all the feelings for him just got evaporated in the air (guess it was not true love or my ego…I still can’t decide). It was a relief that I was out of it…but the crime was committed, I was exposed in front of a person who was not even worth. Don’t misunderstand me I don’t have any regrets, I still find myself to be brave enough to have done it. It is of course was a brave act for a girl like me as until then I detested girls who proposed! After my act I find them courageous enough. It was a mixed feeling that I experienced, I felt independent (of him and of the burden) but with that I foster a kind of hatred for myself for having getting exposed. I think these incidents only happen to make you more mature. Same feeling capture my mind when I am about to introduce the subject…

On second thoughts maybe some other time!

An Era of Checklists

Rejecting or Getting rejected! Don’t blame the girl or the boy for your rejection. It’s the checklist that is causing it all. Yes the same kind of checklist that you yourself have. I am sure you have also made one, we all possess one! A checklist that states our requirements!

Whenever we meet a boy who is good enough to catch our attention, at that very moment we start with our analysis. We start comparing our checklist with him. One point missing and he is a straight reject! And if the guy is lucky enough to overcome the barrier, there comes the checklist of the girl’s friends…and he is a reject again! Same goes with the boys, a girl goes into the eject mode if she is missing on any point…Of course there are some rules to the game. Let us check out the checklist of both the genders. (The points on the checklist are strictly to be taken in the counting order…)

A Girl’s checklist
1.     He should be rich.
2.     He should be handsome.
3.     He should be intelligent.
4.     He should be very loving and caring.
5.     He should know how to cook.
6.     And blah blah blah…

The list can go on and on…but if it matches the above criteria he is good enough to be a date…One important thing that I forget to put is, all the points on the checklist can be overlooked if he is very rich ;) (Don’t tell anyone!)

A boy’s Checklist:
1.     She should be very beautiful and to an extent that all my friends should get jealous of me.
2.     She should be fun to be with…
3.     She should mind her own business, and don’t be too much of a poking.
4.     She should be smart.
5.     She should be earning.
6.     She should not be demanding and blah blah blah…

And the list is never ending…but if the girl matches these requirements she is good enough to start off with…And in this case too all the points can be overlooked if the girl is extremely beautiful… :)

Lame that is! do you know who is taking advantage of our checklists, the so called dating/matrimonial websites…!

The fact of the matter is not the checklist but our never ending want to get the perfect kind…when the word perfect in itself is a big farce. And you know what we are so obsessed with that checklist that we tend to ignore the person whom we are meant to be with…

Do away with your checklists today and then look around that person is just around the corner…

Happy Valentine’s Week

Redefining the term: Rape

Do you know that the dictionary is no more a trustworthy source for definitions!  One word that I would like to lay your attention on is rape. Shocked! Yes, Rape is the word that is not defined correctly in the dictionary. Not only dictionaries have wrongly mentioned but also the legislation defines it all wrong. And because of that wrong definition unnecessarily the innocent people get punished. Poor victims! They are unreasonably caught and put behind bars. They are not to be blamed, they should be freed immediately. This mistake happened in the first place because of the wrong definition provided by, I don’t know whom…Let us look at the correct definition, the correct definition will set everything to its right course, at least the innocent people will not punished irrationally. But before stating the revised meaning, let us look at the traditional definition. As per dictionary:

“It is a crime of forcing another person to submit to the sex acts.”

New Definition of Rape:

It’s an activity that a girl/ woman forces on herself by the act of the following;
  • ·         Wearing the clothes of her choice.
  • ·         Going out for night parties to enjoy herself.
  • ·         Sitting and peacefully/ happily enjoying the conversation with her boyfriend.
  • ·         Trying to raise her voice against a gangster.
  • ·         Having a wish to climb the corporate ladder.
  • ·         Travelling independently.
  • ·         And last but not least, sometimes just by sitting at home doing nothing.

So as per the new definition, it is not a crime, it’s an activity that women find amusing, it may be forceful but the rapist is forced to act accordingly.

If we look at the new definition closely we would know that it’s actually not the rapist who is at fault. He is just an innocent person who is being trapped by the so called innocent women, and Just because rape causes physical and mental torture to the woman doesn't mean that the rapist is to be blamed, as said before it’s a bloody trap… This definition will change a lot other things as well. If you would study, you would know that rapist after committing the crime (I should not even call it a crime) feels a sense of power, he feels that he is powerful and takes pride in it, but this revised definition is robing him of that feeling because it’s the woman who is causing it, if she wants she can avoid it, hence she is more powerful than the rapist himself.

I am sure a lot of people will agree with me and especially the government as it wants to empower the woman. It is time that we change the definition and make it official. This way at least the innocent people will be spared! The legislation of India will also be spared as it would be saved of all the rape cases. A lot of time then, can be focused on other pending cases.

And if anyone needs to be punished it’s the rape victim, I mean the women (I clarified it because as per the new definition, the rape victim is the rapist himself).

Misunderstood Roles

As the time stands witness men have always misunderstood their roles. The male gender somehow has this misconception that the female gender has to be protected by them. From the time known, this myth has caused havoc in the women’s life, when the fact is that the women are not to be protected by them but from them. It is as if they are playing a farce to inflate their ego and in the process ruining the women’s life. And now they have got so involved in the role that they take the women to be their private property that too to an extent that they don’t even consider them to be a living being at times. At the cost of protecting the women they destroy them to the core. The male gender is so serious in protecting the opposite gender that they seem to have forgotten the real meaning of being ‘The Man,’ or I would go to an extent of saying that they have misinterpreted the meaning of the term ’protection.’ They protect women as Lord Rama protected Sita by sending her on exile while she was pregnant or like the pandavas put Draupadi on stake. I am sure things will be much simpler if only they clear the mist and see the reality.
Sadness and bitterness encompass me when I think of fallacies of men against women. Sadness on the part of female gender and bitterness on the part of male gender as nobody seems to be a man enough. By forcing themselves on women in any context, they feel that they fulfilled their purpose of being born. Shameless creatures they have become. My heart cries on the current situation of the woman. I am sure God had a very different idea when he created woman. I am sure he did not wish such condition of woman. I detest God for making men so thoughtless and inconsiderate of women’s feelings. Every news about women being insulted fills my heart with revenge.
There is but one solution that I can think of, and I am sure that by this solution things are sure to set themselves right, and even God will agree with me on this, if he is familiar of the status of woman in the current time. All females should get extinct immediately as the situation is hopeless now…

Life in a Metro- Episode 3

Pink Pages of Anubhuti's Life

Episode 3

He dropped her home. She felt a kind of relief as she was out of that awkward situation now but she still had this lasting wish of spending some more time with him. With those thoughts she reached home. She went straight up to her room as she wanted some answers from herself. She interrogated herself on her feelings and while she was on with this activity a thought came to her mind, "is it that important?” A feeling that she is unnecessarily tiring herself dawned upon her. She finally decided that she would give it no more a thought. She felt strong as she felt like overcoming his spell.

Next morning when she woke she felt a ringing in her ears of his name. She had that WTF kind of feeling...she felt irritated of her thoughts of him. She never knew controlling her ‘thoughts of him’ would be so difficult. She wanted to deny everything that was taking her towards him. May be she was not able to digest the idea of falling for someone that easily. She wished she could ask her thoughts to ‘lay-off’. She tried her level best to keep her mind stable…away from his thoughts.

With that burden on her mind she reached office and started with the daily routine of sending the Work Plan of the day when she received this beautiful bouquet of flowers delivered to her name. She was amazed and flabbergasted by his act of making an attempt to brighten the things. She felt.. ’Oh please don’t give me another reason to like you more…!’.  She knew from the very beginning that, ’he is a gentleman.’ But she again just wanted to deny all the feelings and thoughts. There she was sitting in the office looking at the flowers and feeling the irony of the situation, that how on her part she is trying her level best to get away from it before getting emotionally involved but the flowers like every girl’s weakness won’t let her come out of it….she felt a queer feeling of pity for herself…

Life In A Metro- Episode 2

Pink Pages of Anubhuti's Life

Episode 2

There she was sitting in the car trying to shed her inhibitions. And now a new thought was pestering her as in what he might have in his mind that he came to meet her; ‘Did he like her?’ or ‘was it just a regular meeting that he was aiming at?’ her confusion was justified as she could not figure out what was going on his mind. In all that befuddlement, she thought of first interrogating herself as in what was her take on it. She wanted to know her feelings about the meeting first. Waves of emotions attacked her from all sides hence she finally decided to put all her thoughts on a halt and just be in the moment. There was then awkward silence that came over. She thought maybe he too was thinking on the same lines. But he seemed very relaxed and she ridiculed herself on that rapid imagination of hers. They had a light conversation as they seem to have a lot in common; hence conversation was not hard to strike. They finally reached the mall.

They sat in a cafe. The ambiance was like any normal cafe, where the seats were arranged in such a way that it seemed that you are accompanied not by one but many. Luckily it was not crowded that day. The seats were uncomfortable like hell for her, and it seemed that he too was feeling the same for the seats. But despite of the uncomfortable seat she enjoyed the conversation with him. It was a plain conversation without any adulteration of unwanted feelings and thoughts. Sometimes how beautiful it is to converse with someone without contaminating the conversation. A pure and undiluted conversation was what they had. He had these mild expressions while he was conversing with her. There was nothing extraordinary about his looks but still there was something enticing about it. She wished the conversation to last a little longer. She was drinking the wonderfulness of the moment and to her surprise without having any feelings for him. Or was she falling for him. As per his feelings she only thought it’s better to be confirmed about hers first.

It was time and they left.

Life In a Metro

Chapter 1

Pink Pages of Anubhuti's life

It was a usual Friday evening in the office when her phone screen flashed. It was his call. She was startled to see his name on the screen. She felt nervous as now she had to talk to him as until now they were just conversing through messages. Actually she was not expecting him to call. With every passing second, her heartbeat was increasing, she didn't know what she would talk to him about as she has not been a good talker, and especially phone calls have always not been a good source of communication for her. Though she was nervous she felt thrilled at the same time as it was his call.

With these thoughts she finally picked the call. He said ‘hello’, and she quickly gathered herself up to answer him in a fear not to sound stupid out of nervousness. Her side of ‘hello’ was now filled with confidence and eagerness of what is to come next. His counter reply almost shocked her as he had come to meet her without any prior notice. It was not long that they had known each other. Moreover, she had planned and imagined their first meeting in completely different fashion. Though she was old school, she quickly responded and packed herself to meet him. She went downstairs. Every step that she took made her more and more uncomfortable. Finally, she was there in front of him. There he was standing looking just decent in a pair of plain jeans and a checked shirt. He had these intriguing eyes as if trying to invade her territory. They shook hands.  In social settings, the gentleman waits for the lady to initiate the shake, but the lady does not refuse a forgetful gentleman’s impatient initiation. To her surprise she noticed that he too was uncomfortable, unaware of what to say to her. He seemed not sure of his decision to come to meet her and she could figure it out. But somehow after having a word with him she herself felt at ease, and she felt no more uncomfortable.

After the casual interaction they mutually decided to go to the nearby mall. Then she moved towards the road side to look for an auto, she looked at him and he pointed towards his car. Again an uncomfortable situation for her but as now she had already agreed to come with him and didn't want to seem stupid, she moved towards the car. She sat and adjusted herself comfortably.
